San Leandro Job and Resource Fair October 16: Entry-Level Hiring Near Oakland

SAN LEANDRO, CA — One of the East Bay's most low-key job fairs returns just south of the Oakland line next week. The San Leandro Adult & Career Education Center hosts its fall Job and Resource Fair on Friday, October 16, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at its campus on Williams Street, and the school says everyone is welcome, students or not.

Two hours, one campus, and a room built around entry-level hiring and the support services that help people land and keep a job. Bring your family and friends, the school says, and bring a resume.

🔥 What This San Leandro Job Fair Is For

The adult school runs this fair twice a year, once in spring and once in fall. The school describes it as a way to connect people with entry-level job placement and to open its doors to students' families and friends, not just the people enrolled in classes. The event is listed on the San Leandro Adult & Career Education Center website.

The school has not published a list of employers for the October 16 fair. For a sense of the mix, the spring edition on March 27 drew ComFor Care, Alameda County Social Services, Rubicon Programs, St. Vincent de Paul and Bay Well Health, among others. That is a blend of care employers, county services and nonprofit job-readiness programs, and it is a fair bet the fall room will look similar. Treat that as a preview, not a promise, and call the school if a specific employer matters to you.

💼 Who Should Make the Drive From Oakland

This is not a high-volume convention-hall fair. It is a smaller, community-scale event, which makes it a good fit for a few kinds of job seekers:

  • First-time and returning workers: the focus is entry-level placement, so a thin resume is not a dealbreaker here.
  • Anyone eyeing caregiving or health support work: home care and health services have been part of the employer mix, and the school itself trains clinical medical assistants, pharmacy technicians, nurse assistants and home health aides.
  • People who need more than a job lead: county services and nonprofits table alongside employers, which is the "resource" half of the name.

San Leandro sits right across the city line from East Oakland, a short trip down I-880 or International Boulevard. If you are coming by BART, check your route to Williams Street before you leave.

🗓️ Different Day, Different Fair: Alameda on October 15

If you want two shots in two days, the City of Alameda's job fair runs the afternoon before, Thursday, October 15, at South Shore Center, with a roster heavy on transit, public safety, schools and city jobs. Different event, different employers, different crowd. Our full guide to the Alameda job fair has the details.
